Significance of Motor Skills Development in Pre-Kindergarten Students (Early Childhood Education Level II)

Abstract

This research is framed within the critical-reflective paradigm of educational research and aims to diagnose the current state of motor development in children at Sublevel II of Early Childhood Education at the 'Agripina Murillo' Educational Unit. The study included 46 students, constituting the entire sample selected through non-probabilistic and convenience criteria. The study adopts a mixed-methods approach (qualitative-quantitative), supported by field research, bibliographic review, and elements of quasi-experimental design. Theoretical and empirical methods were employed, using the following instruments: survey questionnaires; semi-structured interview guides; standardized motor assessment test. Key findings reveal: low level of motor development; insufficient play-based activities (games) during Physical Education classes. It is concluded that implementing a Play-Based Motor Activities Plan represents a viable alternative to address this issue and contribute to students' comprehensive development.
