Notes on environmental education in the Dominican Republic

Abstract
Education on issues related to protection, restoration and promotion of the responsible and sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems is of utmost importance; the objective of the article is to provide, through a reflective analysis, a synthesis of the work in favor of environmental education in the Dominican Republic, through governmental actions, its insertion in the Secondary Level curriculum, and the contextualization of the proposal of the report on the new contract of education proposed in the Report of the International Commission on the Futures of Education. The research methodology was qualitative, retrospective bibliographic, documentary, retrospective and descriptive and descriptive; the PRISMA methodology was used for the systematic review. It is concluded that emphasis should be placed on the ways and means of achieving environmental commitment, including in its achievement indicators the value flexibility when analyzing problems and phenomena of nature, the use of simulated cases to promote critical and autonomous responsibility of the student, the awareness of socio-environmental and socio-scientific controversies, citizen participation and participation, and the social-ethical implications in the solution of environmental problems with the use of environmental problems with the use of environmental education strategies oriented to the Science, Technology and oriented to the Science, Technology and Society approach.
