The social perspective of the masculine in students of the University of Havana
La perspectiva social de lo masculino en estudiantes de la Universidad de La Habana
Abstract
The present work offers an approach to the results of a descriptive investigation, based on a cross-sectional design of a case study, which has had the objective of analyzing the social perception of masculinity in male students of the 2nd year of the Faculty of Communication of the University of Havana in the year 2021. To this end, the theoretical-conceptual references of social perception, gender and masculinities are systematized. Through the application of methods and techniques for collecting information, such as documentary analysis, observation, survey, drawing and composition, the student's opinions on masculinities are identified. From a predominantly qualitative perspective, traits of hegemonic masculinity were determined in the men of the study sample, based on the persistence of a generic regulation that is maintained with great force and that continues to reproduce values that are part of the traditional construction of masculinity. masculinity and still presents an old-fashioned and retrograde male.
