Abstract
Context: In the context of the Dominican Republic, education with a gender perspective in higher education constitutes a problem still unresolved. Objective: To reflect on education with a gender perspective in the context of higher education in the Dominican Republic. Methods: Documentary analysis, synthetic analytical, inductive-deductive. Results: In the Dominican context, there is evidence of progress and challenges regarding education with a gender perspective in higher education. Traditional educational conceptions that place people according to sex and gender in certain university careers still survive; harassment towards women is still present and education with a gender perspective is still insufficient. Conclusions: Education with a gender perspective makes possible the inclusion of all people so that they can know their fundamental rights and conquer progress and professionalization in conditions of equality and equity, so that they can fully participate in society and contribute to their personal development and that of the country. Its approach in the context of higher education is essential. It is necessary to advance in the training of university students in order to close gender gaps and reduce the violence generated by the patriarchal culture.
