Francisco Morazán as a social educator
Francisco Morazán como educador social
Abstract
The study of the educational legacy of historical figures is an essential way to train new generations of educators, and also contributes to promote policies and alternatives to improve the educational management of countries engaged in an awakening that transforms realities. From this perspective, the article satisfies the demands of an objective: to reveal the facet of educator that distinguished Francisco Morazán, from his formative legacy. Through the analysis of his writings and actions as a public official, throughout his career as a great statesman and military genius, an approach to his pedagogical actions is achieved, on the philosophical roots of his thought. The systematization of the results of the educational research recognized the pedagogical foundations for the study of personalities. The findings about the contributions of this Honduran figure highlight the actions of a vanguard educator, who proposed the application of concepts, methods and instruments that would not be replicated in Central America until decades later and that are considered coordinates for the Educational Reform and the transformation that is demanded and needed in Honduran education today.
