Improvement of educational direction as a current social problem in the Dominican Republic

Mejoramiento de la dirección educativa como un problema social actual en República Dominicana

Keywords: director, school education, educational entities, leadership.

Abstract

Social and technological problems impose challenges to the school education of all peoples and the Dominican Republic does not escape to the situation. In that order, we reflect on the educational direction, the director and the challenges imposed by the current scientific and technological development. To achieve the claims, the dialectical-materialist: analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive, historical-logical method, document analysis, interview and observation is used. The results reflect an educational direction with a workload in more than 80% of the time in administrative aspects, with little promotion of educational practices, processes without defined guidelines, little participation of all in decision-making. The educational direction requires managing processes based on the theoretical-practical relationship oriented by science and technology to achieve relevant results; taking into account an integrating and inclusive philosophy of human development and the link between the institution and the community in continuous improvement to achieve the desired educational quality.
