Abstract
The article is the result of doctoral scientific research and professional practice applied at the Cuban-Soviet Friendship Polytechnic Center at Playa municipality, around the study of historical personalities in the teaching-learning process of the History of Cuba. The objective is to base, from the references provided by science and technology, the study of historical personalities for education in values. It contributes through the study of historical figures with a positive character and the influence that their example and decisions can exert on young people, as the safest way to educate in values in the third educational improvement. As part of the process, theoretical and empirical methods from the dialectical materialist conception were used to study and clarify the state of the art, which revealed insufficiencies. The work emphasizes the link that affective and cognitive processes have for learning. It also shows that every cognitive process has a social genesis, as well as an interrelation between learning and development from the study of historical personalities, being a possible solution to this problem, the preparation of teachers who direct teaching constitutes an essential condition. and education in values.
