Activities to prepare university professors for studies on risk perception of natural disasters

Abstract
The university community enables dynamic and flexible actions, to incorporate the changes and advances that, at the scientific, technological, cultural, social, economic and professional levels, occur at present. The innovative and creative management of the agents that work in the institutions of Higher Education are demands of this process. Among the ways of improvement is the training of teachers oriented to solve the identified deficiencies. That is why the objective of the article that summarizes the research is to design activities for the training of teachers according to the perception of risks related to natural disasters in the university community, taking as a reference the Faculty of Education of the University of Cienfuegos. For this analysis, the environmental, social and economic characteristics are taken into account in order to facilitate the programs that address this highly important and sensitizing topic for each territory. The training, as a continuation of the course, made it possible to learn about the elements to be worked on to strengthen risk management at this level. The main results are expressed in the concretion of three categories of analysis: knowledge, skills and awareness and the transformations operated in practice.
