Abstract

Postmodern and neoliberal thought, under the guise of defending freedom, criticizing political practice and promoting economic freedom, incites hatred, violence and creates confusion about the interpretation of freedom from a moral ethical approach. The theoretical construction of an interpretive model that favors new analyzes of freedom and emancipatory social action is valid today. The educational thought of Pedro Agustín Pérez responds to this social need and manifests an indissoluble link between theory and practice. The objective of this communication is to reveal the relationship between freedom and emancipatory social action in the educational thought of Pedro Agustín Pérez, through his epistolary written between 1870 and 1899. Historical-logical methods, documentary analysis, analysis and synthesis and inductive deductive. The formation of his thought was investigated from his childhood and the influence of figures such as Calixto García, Antonio Maceo and José Martí. From this it is revealed that Masonic education based on a practical and elective philosophy played a significant role in the evolution of his ideas towards liberation and emancipation.
