Acerca del pensamiento estético de José Martí
Resumen
El artículo está dirigido al análisis de cómo se comporta en nuestro Apóstol su pensamiento estético para la comprensión del ejercicio del criterio. El abordaje de la estética, utilizando para ello el método dialéctico materialista desde el enfoque histórico-cultural, permite al lector conocer algunos elementos del desarrollo de la plástica de la época colonial, no solo en Cuba, sino en otros contextos, lo que justifica la posición crítica y estética de Martí, quien apreció el arte de su tiempo, defendiendo aquel que era genuino, propio del ámbito histórico de América. Su estrecha relación con esas manifestaciones artísticas le permitió poner su crítica muy cerca del pensamiento actual. Recoge además los principios que debe cumplir la creación artística para que se convierta en obra de arte y señala los elementos que, según Martí, debe tener en cuenta el artista para que el arte no sea una obra estéril y sirva para orientar a la humanidad a luchar por el mejoramiento humano. La personalidad de artista visionario presente en cada juicio, en cada valoración estética del fenómeno artístico, es suficiente, para juzgar lo acertado de Martí y sus reflexiones acerca del tema del arte.
