Workshops to encourage reading: a way to train reading students

Talleres de animación hacia la lectura: una vía para la formación de educandos lectores

Keywords: promotion, habit, reader

Abstract

The Cuban government develops countless strategic actions to promote reading among children, adolescents, and young adults as part of the National Reading Program. Despite these actions, students often fail to view reading as a useful and enjoyable activity. To address this situation, the school's interests were integrated with those of the Rubén Martínez Villena Provincial Public Library's Reading as an Engine of Change project. The objective of this research is to propose reading promotion workshops for students in the third stage of psychological development. The research process was based on the Dialectical Materialist method, employing theoretical, empirical, and mathematical-statistical methods. The application fostered students' rapport with books and the development of feelings of national identity.
