Abstract

The problem of teaching and learning in the social sciences, even in the 21st century, permeates the debate on the didactics of these sciences worldwide. In the Dominican Republic, despite research development and the latest curriculum reform, the area has been the least affected by changes.  The objective of this article was to support the theoretical foundations that favour the interdisciplinary structuring of social science education in an educational district.  Theoretical methods and documentary research are used for this problem, in an epistemic perspective of pedagogy in the context of education sciences, and in connection with the didactics of social sciences. The results obtained allow the modelling of a didactic proposal for their improvement, taking into account the shortcomings identified in the diagnosis.
