Online linguistic professional development strategy for the University of Informatics Science

Abstract

In the 21st century, the importance of lifelong learning is accentuated, with great competitiveness in the professional sector. The University of Informatics Sciences (UCI) is an interconnected institution, with important international links, which demands the professional performance of its professors and specialists in national and international scenarios who require linguistic competence in English, since it is one of the languages with the widest international diffusion, which results in the need for its professional linguistic improvement. At the Language Center of the UCI, research is being carried out with the objective of designing a strategy of professional linguistic improvement in English for teachers and non-philologist specialists.

The objective of this work is to identify the theoretical-methodological references that support the strategy of professional linguistic improvement in English for teachers and non-philologist specialists of the UCI.

The following methods were used: documentary analysis of the ministerial resolutions of higher education associated with the improvement of university teachers; analytical-synthetic analysis, which allowed recognizing the referents of the proposed improvement strategy; systematization of the theoretical-methodological referents that support the professional linguistic improvement in distance learning, which favored the conceptual analysis of the linguistic professional improvement in English for teachers and non-philologists at UCI; and systematization of the theoretical-methodological referents that support the linguistic professional improvement in distance learning, which favored the conceptual analysis of the linguistic professional development and the role of ICT in English language teaching.
