Teaching tasks for skill integration through the listening comprehension lesson
Tareas docentes para la integración de destrezas comunicativas en la clase de comprensión auditiva
Abstract
The teaching of the English language constitutes an essential aspect in the formation of doctors in Cuba. It is a valuable tool that facilitates their professional performance and technical scientific development. The objective of the present research is to design teaching tasks for the development of the integration of skills through the listening comprehension class in the fifth year of the Medicine career. A descriptive qualitative research was carried out at the University of Medical Sciences of Holguín, during the period from January to September 2022. The materialist dialectical method was assumed as the general methodological conception of the research. Theoretical methods were used: analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction and modeling; Empirical: documentary analysis, surveys, interviews, class observation and statistical processing methods. It was found that there is interest in including teaching tasks to develop the integration of communication skills in the listening comprehension class, since they favor motivation for language learning, for which a proposal of teaching tasks was designed to solve the limitations detected in the treatment of listening comprehension. The structuring of teaching tasks was assessed as adequate and its implementation in the fifth year of medical school as feasible. They favor the integration of communication skills and improve the quality of the teaching-learning process of listening skills.
