Investigative skills in high school students of the 23 de Marzo Educational Unit of Sucre
Habilidades investigativas en estudiantes de secundaria de la Unidad Educativa 23 de marzo de Sucre
Abstract
This study analyzed the development of research skills in sixth grade high school students at the 23 de marzo Educational Unit, within the context of the Technical Humanistic Baccalaureate. A mixed-methods approach was applied, using content analysis (qualitative) to examine 2 learning texts and surveys (quantitative) with 106 students. The 5th and 6th grade high school texts contain basic research methodology for student training. However, the survey revealed that 45% of students have research skills in the process of development and 25% have poorly developed skills. The low level of research skills development creates difficulties in developing the graduation project, a mandatory requirement to graduate from the Gastronomy Program offered by the educational institution.
