Keywords: Medical education, cartographic media., Medicine career

Abstract

Nowadays, society needs to train professionals with an interdisciplinary approach so that their professional performance is competent.   In this sense, the present work is oriented to exemplify ways of including work with maps in the general practitioner's training process.  The research was based on a documentary analysis of the Study Plan E of the Medicine Career, with the purpose of identifying the subjects with the greatest potential for the use of maps within their teaching means. The increase in the use of maps as part of medical teaching and performance, associated with the potential of these media in the explanation of where, how and why the health-disease process is affected, as well as in the orientation and planning of health actions, lead to the need for their inclusion in medical teaching.
