El objeto de la geografía entre enfoques, tendencias y polémicas. Una aproximación a su estudio

Resumen

Cuando se analizan los  criterios existentes sobre el objeto de Geografía en los diferentes enfoques que se utilizan y que se han  desarrollado en Cuba y en otros países del planeta; observamos que si  para otras ramas de la ciencia su objeto se mantiene preciso y con pocas variaciones, no ha sido así el camino  seguido por la Geografía el cual ha ido de la descripción de la tierra, casa común, las relaciones naturaleza y la sociedad,  distribución de objetos y fenómenos en la superficie terrestre, paisaje  y espacio geográfico. No obstante que la mayoría de los especialistas coinciden que el potencial integrador de la geografía la convierte paulatinamente en una ciencia de núcleo, que permite aglutinar a prácticamente todas las disciplinas científicas en el estudio de las interacciones de los fenómenos naturales y sociales en la superficie del planeta. El trabajo no pretende ni mucho menos determinar desde esta posición definir cuál es el objeto que le corresponde a la Geografía en la Sociedad actual, pero si poner en el centro de la discusión de la comunidad de geógrafos del país la reflexión, el análisis y la necesidad de discutir sobre este tema y llegar a un acuerdo que contribuya al perfeccionamiento y a una posición de la Geografía en las condiciones actuales.

Abstract

When it is analyzed the existent different approaches on the object of Geography in the different focuses that they are used and that they have been developed in Cuba and in other countries of the planet; we observe that if for other branches of the science their object stays precise and with few variations, it has not been this way the one on the way to the Geography which has gone of the description of the earth, he/she marries common, the relationships nature and the society, distribution of objects and phenomena in the terrestrial surface, landscape and geographical space. Sphere geographical cover, among other. Nevertheless that most of the specialists coincide that the integrative potential of the geography transforms it gradually into a nucleus science that allows agglutinating to practically all the scientific disciplines in the study of the interactions of the natural and social phenomena in the surface of the planet. The work doesn't seek by no means determining from this position to define which it is the object that corresponds to the Geography in the current Society, but if to put in the center of the discussion of the community of geographers of the country the reflection, the analysis and the necessity of to discuss on this topic and to reach an agreement that contributes to the improvement and a position of the Geography under the current conditions.
