Curso básico de Gerontología para trabajadores

Resumen

El objetivo del artículo es describir la estrategia aplicada en el diseño del curso de posgrado básico en Gerontología para mejorar los conocimientos y la comprensión del proceso de jubilación y del envejecimiento, desde la teoría de la educación avanzada, en la Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina, La Habana, Cuba. Se revisó la metodología para el desarrollo y aplicación de las nociones generales de la Gerontología y Geriatría y se tomó en consideración la experiencia del claustro docente del departamento de Medicina General Integral y los resultados de un diagnóstico previo del nivel de conocimientos y necesidades de aprendizaje de los trabajadores. Se diseñó un curso presencial de 40 horas de duración, se distribuyeron los contenidos por temas. Se diseñó el sistema de evaluación y se mencionan los beneficios esperados.

ABSTRACT
The article objective is to describe the strategy applied in the design of the basic postgraduate course of Gerontology, in order to improve the knowledge and the comprehension of the process of retirement and ageing, in the Latin-American Medici School. The methodology for the development and application of the general notions of Gerontology and Geriatrics was consulted for the formulation of the teaching program and its objectives. The experience of the teaching staff of the department of Integral General Medicine and the results of a previous diagnostic of the level of knowledge and learning needs of the staff were taken into consideration. A 40-hour face-to-face course was developed. The contents were distributed according to aiming topics. The system of evaluation was designed and the expected benefits are also stated. Conclusions: the design of the course takes into consideration the motivation and interests, the initial diagnostic of the level of knowledge of the staff and their demands for learning, as well as the experience in the design and teaching of courses of the kind derived from other centers. The evaluation of the impact of the course was also conceptualized, so that its contribution to the preparation of the human resources from the perspective of Gerontology and with the Theory of Advanced Education could be verified, in order to prove its effectiveness in the indirect influence in students and family members of the staff.
