INFLUENCIA POSITIVA DEL USO DE UN ASISTENTE MATEMÁTICO LIBRE EN LA EDUCACIÓN SUPERIOR

Resumen

RESUMEN: El presente trabajo recoge experiencias obtenidas en el uso de un asistente matemático, Maxima, basado en software libre, en el segundo año de la carrera Ingeniería Informática en la Universidad de Cienfuegos. El estudio comprende cuatro cursos sucesivos, en los cuales los dos primeros las clases se desarrollaron sin la utilización del software y los otros dos con la utilización del mismo. Se exponen los resultados obtenidos por los estudiantes en los proyectos integradores de la asignatura Matemática IV, utilizando o no el asistente matemático. Se prueba, utilizando métodos estadísticos, que los resultados obtenidos en los proyectos integra-dores de curso con la utilización de Maxima son superiores a los que se obtienen sin la utilización de este, demostrando de esta forma que la utilización de software libre en la enseñanza universitaria influye positivamente en el proceso de enseñanza - aprendizaje de la asignatura.

POSITIVE INFLUENCE OF THE USE OF A FREE MATHEMATICAL ASSISTANT IN HIGHER EDUCATION

ABSTRACT: The present work gathers experiences obtained in the use of a mathematical assistant, Maxima, based on free software, in the second year of the Computer Engineering career at the University of Cienfuegos. The study comprises four successive courses, in which the first two were developed without using the software and the other two with the use of the same. Are exposed the results obtained by the students in the integrating projects of the subject Mathematics IV, using or not the mathematical assistant. It is proved, using statistical methods, that the results obtained in the course projects with the use of Maxima are superior to those obtained without the use of this, demonstrating in this way that the use of free software in higher education influence positively on the teaching - learning process of the subject.
